Post it Show 2013

Here's what I've got goin' in this year's show. The first set is very similar to the rupee pieces I did a few years back. The second set is personal spin on familiar characters.

If you're in the Santa Monica area on 7th of December drop in by GR2. http://www.giantrobot.com/gr2/

You can buy mine or any of the infinitely more talented artist's post-its on the spot! Who knows, you may just run into me.

Logos

I was talking to someone last night about how I had done branding and logos before. I realized I had never really uploaded much of that to my online accounts so here we go!

This was a fictional science group that went on to establish multiple other properties and business. It was all set in the 1960's hence the dated look and coloring.

Bomber Lab Kinetic developed Bomber Cola. This was supposed to be one of the multiple in world advertisements. I had also developed a logo for a BLK owned airline called "Corvus Air" but can't find the illustrator file anywhere now.

This comes from a comic that took place in a small office that proof reads various texts before publishing. There's a joke not just in the choice of names but the choice of fonts.

When I went on to develop my youtube channel I found I still had a fondness for the sort of plain, some-what desaturated purples of BLK. It served as a strong inspiration.

I spoke a bit about the channel before so I won't say much but just share the look of the "loading/connection" screen and the channels logo.

Experimentation - Self Portrait

Might redo it later. Lots of experimentation in this image.

Froggo

I made up Froggo a few years ago. After talking to a friend and thinking I can take a stab at an old game idea I had based on him, I'm thinking I might give making it a reality a shot. Made a turn around sheet in case we have animated segments.

Action Points

I haven't updated in ages. Been pretty busy trying to do a lot and just forgot about the blog.

I've made a number of pictures and for a while I was heavily focused on creating a youtube channel and building the visuals for branding. So up first is that.

I had edited video before but never put my art and animated it some in a video editor. Since I do a little bit of writing about games I felt pretty strongly about some topics and felt that writing just wouldn't be good enough to reach a wider audience. I really don't like the idea of video blogging though and think the subject should be valued for it's content rather than who said it. On the flip side though I know a disembodied voice can turn some people off and know it always helps if they can attach a face to it. I found inspiration in the Sprite Communications that Snake and Otacon have in Metal Gear Solid 2. (As seen below)

I liked how it felt like secret transmissions between Snake and Otacon and wanted to try and give the viewer that same feeling. Recreating all the original assets and then learning how to use them correctly AND animating my video opening was quite a bit of work but I'm fairly pleased without things look now.

Feel free to check the videos in action! ActionPts on Youtube!
